Nigerian Society for Plant Protection

Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP) was founded on May 16, 1970 at the then Department of Agricultural Biology (Now Crop Protection and Environmental Biology). University of Ibadan and was formally presented to the general public during its Inaugural Conference held at the University of Ibadan from 15th to 17th February, 1971 where over 29 delegates participated. The current president of NSPP is Professor David Babatunde Olufolaji of the Department of Crop, Soil and Pest Management, Federal University of Technology, Akure.
The Society is made up of professionals in the field of plant protection and allied disciplines and is formally registered with the Corporate Affairs’ Commission, Abuja (CAC/IT/NO 63002) thereby legalising its existence and operation. Membership currently stands at 603 and is spread across the entire country. There are at least 22 corporate organisations that are members of the Society. NSPP enjoys excellent cooperation of other societies like Entomology Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Nematologists, Weed Science Society of Nigeria, Mycological Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Phytopathology Society to mention but a few.”
